Mary Ann McGuire, 84, of Vandergrift, passed from this life into her heavenly home Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at St. Margaret's Hospital, Aspinwall. Born Dec. 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ann and Henry Sarver, of Apollo (Paulton). Mary Ann had an admirable work ethic, working from her teenage years into her seventies. She worked as a clerk in several stores in and around Vandergrift and always enjoyed making new friends. After retiring, she often stated that she missed working because she missed seeing and talking to her customers. In her younger years, she enjoyed baking daily with precious friends in Paulton and spending countless hours visiting over coffee, Pepsi and potato chips. This extended into the warm hospitality that she offered to everyone who entered her home. Mary Ann loved her children unconditionally; they were the most important aspect of her life. Throughout her life, this love extended to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. She had a strong faith and trusted in God when faced with life's challenges. She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Vandergrift and is a current member of St. Paul's Highfield Lutheran Church, Vandergrift. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband, Walter "Gene" McGuire, daughter, Deborah (Ted) Wallace, of Tacoma, Wash., son, Donald (Rose) Talmadge, of Nags Head, N.C., and daughter-in-law, Barbara Talmadge, of Allegheny Township. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who were very precious to her. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Sarver Jr., and two sons, Michael Talmadge and Larry Talmadge, many loving aunts and uncles and cherished friends. At the family's request, services are private and have been entrusted to the DUNMIRE-KERR & ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift.
