Richard E. Hildebrand, 92, of Washington Township, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, in the Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. Born July 21, 1925, in Apollo, he is the son of the late Richard M. and Ardilla Blackson Hildebrand. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy as a PO2-EM2 during the invasion of southern France. He had been employed by 38 years for the Sears Roebuck Company as installation manager for the Pittsburgh Group, retiring in 1983. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vandergrift and enjoyed traveling in his RV and boating. Survivors include a daughter, Krystal Hildebrand (Elias Brito), of Delmont; two sons, Richard G. (Margaret) Hildebrand, of Ligonier, David M. (Brenda) Hildebrand, of Oldsmar, Fla.; four grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Hildebrand, Beth (Brent) Shallenberger, Shaun Oien (Heather Garbowsky) and Lee (Briana) Hildebrand; along with seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta (Harry) Frick, of Apollo; and a brother, Donald Hildebrand, of Adrian, Mich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Kauffman Hildebrand, in 2005. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the DUNMIRE-KERR AND ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
