Mary Ann (DelVecchio) Scanga, 89, of Vandergrift, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, in the West Penn Hospital Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 6, 1928, in Vandergrift, she is the daughter of the late Ernesto and Erminia Santarelli Del Vecchio. She had been part owner of Del Vecchio's Market in Vandergrift prior to retiring in 1991. Having lived there all of her life, a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church in Vandergrift and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Rosary Society she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending her time making hoagies with L&S fundraisers. Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Rita) Scanga, of Louisville, Ky., and Thomas Scanga (Cheryl Heddinger), of Vandergrift; four grandchildren, Brianna Scanga, Ashley Scanga, Katie Scanga and Maria Secoy; and a great-grandson, Lucas Secoy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Scanga, in 2015, and infant son, Daniel Scanga; and a sister, Annorina Del Vecchio Fulgenzi. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the DUNMIRE-KERR AND ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift, with Father Mario Fulgenzi OSB as celebrant.
