G. Weber Smith II, 91, of Elizabeth, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, in Mount Vernon of Elizabeth. He was born May 18, 1927, in Vandergrift to the late G. Weber and Ada L. Yetter Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a University of Pittsburgh graduate with a bachelor of business administration. He retired after 29 years of service in the fire safety department of Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp., in Hazelwood. Mr. Smith was of the Methodist faith and a 50-year member of the Kiskiminetas Masonic Lodge No. 617. He enjoyed going to St. Marys to spend time with his children and grandchildren at the Bucksgahuda and Western Railroad. Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Nancy (David) Madden, of Rostraver, and James Smithbauer, of St. Marys; grandchildren, Destiny (Patrick) Patterson, Camille, Mitchell, Kendra, Jared and Nathan Smithbauer; and by his great-grandson, Dylan Patterson. The family of Mr. Smith would like to thank the staff of Mount Vernon of Elizabeth and Three Rivers Hospice for their care and support. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the DUNMIRE-KERR AND ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where funeral ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Officiating will be the Rev. John Piper. Burial with full military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will be in Vandergrift Cemetery, Allegheny Township. The Masonic Lodge will hold services in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
